For those who have a heightened case of nostalgia, this is why Star Trek was canceled in the first place:

Nope. It was canceled the first time do to poor ratings. The fans saved it though. Not sure why it was cancelled the second time. Bad acting and cheesy special effects certainly may have been contribuiting factors, but...
Perhaps. I love some of the Star Trek movies and most of the TNG episodes, but every time I see the old TV show, I cringe. I think this is why, and I have no real idea if the bad acting/effects and so on were the reason people didn't watch or not. It's certainly my reason why!
See I'm just the opposite. I don't really like TNG. Everything is too... clean. Not a universe I'd want to live in. Kirk is totally... my favorite... captain.
